Privacy policy
CREASE is a free-to-play air hockey game that runs in your browser. This page explains, in plain English, what the game collects when you play, what it doesn't, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- No accounts, and the game never asks for your name, email or phone number.
- No cookies, no ads, and no third-party trackers or scripts.
- We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- The game sends a few anonymous gameplay events, like “a match started,” so we can see how CREASE is played. Turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser and it sends none.
- Your progress, records, designs and settings are saved only in your browser. You can wipe them any time with Settings & Help → Clear my data.
What we collect and why
Anonymous gameplay events
While you play, the game sends short messages to our metrics server when certain things happen: the page opens, a match starts or finishes, you share a result or a challenge, you tap a feedback button, or you start or finish the Daily Challenge. Each message contains only:
- The event name, for example “match started.”
- A random ID made fresh for that one event. It exists only so the same event isn't counted twice. It is not tied to you, your device or any other event.
- A few fixed details from a short list, when they apply: the game mode (solo or two players), the CPU difficulty, which player won (1 or 2), whether a match was new, a restart or a rematch, how you arrived (for example a challenge link, or a tag on a link posted on a social site), how a share was sent, and your feedback choice.
The server throws away anything that isn't on that list. We use these events to count plays, see which modes and difficulties people use, spot problems and decide what to improve.
Feedback
After a match you can tap thumbs up or thumbs down, and optionally one preset reason (too hard, too easy, more worlds, want online, bug). There is no text box, so you can't type anything personal into it.
Your IP address
Like every website, our servers see your IP address when your browser connects. The metrics server uses it for a moment as a rate-limit key, to stop floods of fake events, and does not save it. It stores no IP addresses, browser or device details, names or player IDs.
Online play
When you use Play online, your browser connects to our match server. It passes paddle movements, the puck and the score between the two players in real time. There is no chat, no account and no player name. Room codes are random.
The match server uses your IP address only in memory: as a rate-limit key, and, for quick match, held for up to 30 seconds so you aren't paired with your own open room. Nothing about the match is kept after it ends. Your opponent never sees your IP address or anything about you, only your paddle on the table.
What we don't collect
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers or accounts
- Location, contacts, camera or microphone
- The pictures you add in the Design Studio. They stay in your browser and are never uploaded.
- Cookies or advertising IDs, and no data for ads or profiling
Turning analytics off
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, CREASE sends no gameplay events at all, and the game works exactly the same. Online play still connects to the match server, because a live match can't work without it.
What's saved on your device
CREASE saves these items in your browser's local storage so your game is there next time. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.
| Saved item | What it holds |
|---|---|
crease.progress.v1 | Achievements, records and arena unlocks |
crease.stage | The arena you last picked |
crease.daily.v1 | Your Daily Challenge results and streak |
crease.leaderboard.v1 | Your best matches for the Records list |
crease.playerName.v1 | The display name you type for Records, if you set one |
crease.paddle.v1 | The paddle style you equipped |
crease.studio.v1 | Your Design Studio colors and any pictures you added |
crease.entitlement.v1 | Whether a Premium Pass is active on this device |
crease.metrics.v1 | Simple counts of game events, kept only on this device |
To clear it: open CREASE, go to Settings & Help → Clear my data and confirm. That removes every item above and reloads the game. You can also clear website data for playcrease.app in your browser's settings. Clearing also removes a Premium Pass activation from that device.
Cookies
CREASE doesn't use cookies.
Children
CREASE is a game for a general audience, and it is built so that it doesn't need personal information from anyone. It asks no one for a name, email, photo or account, and it isn't designed to collect children's data. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us personal information, for example by email or message, contact us at prodbykctw@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Purchases and messages
The optional Premium Pass is sold directly by us through Instagram direct messages. When you message us on Instagram or email us, we receive what you send, such as your username or email address and your purchase details. Instagram conversations are also covered by Instagram's own privacy policy. We use what you send only to reply, complete and support your purchase, handle refunds, and keep the records the law requires. Links to Instagram in the game are ordinary links; nothing from Instagram loads inside the game.
Who runs the servers
- The website is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.).
- The metrics server and the online match server run on Cloudflare Workers (Cloudflare, Inc.). The anonymous events are stored in a Cloudflare database.
These companies may process technical data, such as IP addresses, in their own logs to deliver and protect their services, under their own privacy policies. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where they operate.
How long we keep data
- Anonymous gameplay events: up to 90 days, then deleted.
- Online play: nothing is kept after a match. IP addresses are held in memory for up to 30 seconds.
- Emails and messages: as long as needed to answer you and support a purchase, and longer only where the law requires us to keep purchase records.
- Data on your device: until you clear it.
Your choices and deleting data
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it or to delete it. Email prodbykctw@gmail.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line and we will reply within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for asking.
Gameplay events carry no name or lasting ID, so we can't pick out which events came from you. We can delete anything else we hold about you, such as emails, messages and purchase records, except records the law requires us to keep. We don't sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, and we honor Global Privacy Control.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS, and we keep as little as possible: the best protection for data is not having it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how CREASE handles data, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also say so on the site.
